WIOA Youth Partners
The Greater Lowell Workforce Development Board provides federal and state funds to support and maintain a framework of education, training and employment services for at-risk youth 16-24 years of age. Our goal is to re-connect these youth with education and employment strategies, which will lead to a life long attachment with the workforce and ultimately economic self-sufficiency.
In FY 16, GLWDB procured WIOA Youth Services from five organizations: Middlesex Community College/Career Center of Lowell and United Teen Equality Center (UTEC) for Out-of-School youth services; Lowell Community Health Center (LCHC) and Lowell High School for In-School youth services.
In-school and Out-of-school youth partners met with GLWDB staff for a kick-off meeting on October 22, 2015. Representatives from Lowell High School, Middlesex Community College/Career Center of Lowell, Lowell Community Health Center, and UTEC made brief presentations about their youth programs and discussed challenges, successes and best practices. Partners will meet once a month.
